Amid the landscape of vineyards and olive groves, you can see the southern mouth of the railway tunnel that formerly communicated la Pobla de Massaluca and the town of Faió.
At the end of the 19th century, the fourth railway viaduct over the River Matarranya was inaugurated. It linked La Pobla de Massaluca and Faió. Nowadays, the mouth of the tunnel is the only remaining vestige.
Massaluca embodies the character of the Terra Alta region. It evokes the essence of the village called La Pobla de Massaluca, which is located to the north of the region, with vineyards that lie about 400 metres above sea level. This height provides a thermal contrast that favours the ripening of grapes.
The landscape around the village is characterised by vineyards, olive groves and almond trees. Another natural feature for which La Pobla de Massaluca is well-known is that it is the only village in the region that is in contact with the Ebro River; its northern perimeter is lined by the course of the Matarranya River.
